Who we need

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Preprocessing & Archiving, we are hiring a Sample Logistics Associate to support the efficient operation of our laboratory through the accurate management, tracking, and movement of environmental and food samples. As our new Sample Logistics Associate, you will be responsible for archiving, retrieving, distributing, and disposing of samples according to established procedures, retention requirements, and safety standards. Working closely with laboratory teams, you will help ensure samples are available when needed, records remain accurate, and daily operations continue to run smoothly while maintaining a strong focus on quality, compliance, and safety.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Mississauga laboratory. The regular schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with required Saturday rotations starting at either 7:30 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. Employees may also transition to an afternoon/evening shift on a monthly to bi-monthly basis, working Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Occasional overtime may be required based on operational needs, and candidates should be comfortable supporting additional hours when required.

How you will make an impact

  • Manage samples accurately and efficiently. You will support the archiving, retrieval, distribution, and disposal of environmental and food samples, ensuring materials are organized, tracked, and available to laboratory teams when needed. You will use barcode systems and established procedures to maintain accurate sample records and support efficient laboratory operations.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards. You will follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laboratory safety requirements, and compliance standards to ensure work is completed accurately and safely. You will maintain required documentation, complete training requirements, and help ensure the department remains audit-ready.
  • Support laboratory operations. You will work closely with laboratory teams to coordinate sample requests, respond to changing priorities, and help keep testing activities moving on schedule. As you gain experience, you may support additional laboratory functions such as sample sorting, distribution, preparation, and general lab activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve. You will bring attention to detail and a proactive mindset to your work by identifying discrepancies, raising potential issues, and sharing ideas that improve organization, efficiency, and workflow. You will take ownership of your responsibilities while collaborating with your team to solve problems and meet operational goals.

You take pride in organized work and understand the importance of accuracy when managing samples and supporting laboratory operations.
  • The ability to learn and adapt. You are comfortable learning new processes, systems, and procedures in a structured environment. You can manage changing priorities, balance multiple tasks, and adjust your approach to support team needs.
  • The technical skills. You are comfortable using computer systems and tools such as Microsoft Outlook, and you have the ability to learn laboratory-specific systems and tracking tools. Experience with inventory management, barcode systems, or laboratory information systems is an asset.
  • The hands-on experience. You have experience in a warehouse, logistics, shipping/receiving, material handling, laboratory, or another environment where organization, safety, and following procedures are important. Experience working around chemicals or samples is an asset.
  • The mindset to make an impact. You bring a motivated, can-do attitude and take initiative to get things done while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality. You enjoy being part of a collaborative team, supporting your colleagues, and contributing wherever needed to keep operations moving. Compensation 

  • This posting is for an existing vacancy 
  • The salary for this role is $21 per hour. Employees working scheduled weekend rotations and afternoon/evening shifts, receive a premium of $1 per hour. Our salary ranges reflect the range of skills and experience required for the posted position. The final offer amount for this role will depend on geographical region, applicable experience, internal equity, and the skillset of the candidate.
